Ryan starts off year with 18th place finish at Ouachita!

Ryan started the season strong with an 18th place finish at Lake Ouachita. Finesse jigs fished in 6-10 feet of water around points with grass were the ticket.

The bite was a little tougher this week but Ryan and Tyler still managed to put a 5 fish limit together weighing a little over 8 pounds. The lake rose over 4 feet during the week due to all the recent rain resulting in cold, muddy water. The swimbait bite had died and the fish had pushed back a little deeper in their areas, so they were forced to back off the banks a little and slow way down. Fishing the old brush line in 18-20 feet of water from when the lake was at normal level was the key. A 5/16th oz. finesse jig and a shakey worm produced all of the keepers for the day.
This week, Ryan will travel back to Texas and fish the BASS Federation Top 6 Tournament on Lake Belton. This will be a 3 day tournament and the first of several qualifying tournaments for a chance at fishing in the 2009 Bassmaster Classic.
Ryan and Tyler take 6th place and $255 at Buddy Bass Tournament on Greers Ferry!

Swimbaits, jigs, and crankbaits account for a limit of fish weighing 10.14 pounds, good enough for a 6th place finish.
